A Magnificent Penwork Chinese Style Workbox.
The workbox is profusely decorated in exquisite penwork and coloured penwork decoration. The top features a central scene of oriental fashion with coloured figures. The figures that decorate the scene are picking flowers and reading poetry, and the flowers that border this decoration complement the top.
The hinge lid opens to reveal a pull-out lid with compartments filled with threads, needles and fabrics, and some penwork lidded compartments are also featured in the top lid.
The main body of the penwork workbox is in excellent condition and is as vibrant as the images portray. It is adorned with the original gilt brass ring pull handles that are matched by the original embossed ball feet.
The workbox is in overall very good condition.
