A Magnificent 'Black Forest' Carved Drinks Cabinet on Stand.
Hand-carved from Lindenwood, the drinks box of D-end shape carved in exquisite high relief, the front panel depicting a flock of goats surrounded by tall wildflowers, the hinged sides with naturalistic bas relief and high relief flora and the top surmounted by a sculptural group of three goats on a rocky outcrop, opening up to reveal a fitted interior with decanters, glasses, and compartments. The whole supported on a carved table with cabriole legs carved in a conforming style with high relief carvings of flora.
Switzerland, circa 1890.
