With D-shaped console top inset with bleu Turquin marble. The frieze having concave sides, which open to reveal cavities and central and having original ormolu mounts set within mahogany panels. The frieze supported on four brass inlaid fluted turned legs, headed by turned roundels and terminating in tapering toupee feet, joined by a mahogany shelf, with pierced ormolu gallery.

Arguably the most famous of all the ebenistes Riesener married Oeben widow and enjoyed the patronage of Madame de Pompadour, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. His most famous piece the Bureau du Roi started by Oeben in 1761 but completed by Riesener in 1769 for the cabinet of Louis XV at Versailles. By 1774 he had taken over from Joubert as the ebeniste du Roi and from 1774 – 1784 supplied 938,000 livres worth of furniture to the Garde-Meuble Royal including many exotic pieces for Marie Antoinette. His work can be seen in every important Museum that exhibits French Furniture.
