A LAVA STONE OVAL CAMEO BROOCH.

Circa 1840.
The oval volcanic lava stone cameo carved in relief, depicting Artemis in profile, wearing classical dress, her hair flowing freely about her shoulders, gazing down at a bird as she clasps it closely to her breast.
The stone held in a fine silver-gilt frame with rope-twist border, simple pin clasp and a hanging loop to the reverse.
Measurements: 2 1/8 ” (5.5cm) High 1 ¾ ” (4.5cm) Wide.
