An exceptional quality large English delftware plate. The central blue and white indented panel is a chinoiserie garden scene with a figure seated in a garden whilst a bird flies overhead.
The plate has a good manganese color ground, the border decorated with four artistically painted blue and white-colored fish. The back of this very rare plate bears the number 4 applied in blue.
