For sale is this exceptional, large, William Hutton & Sons silver and enamel photo frame, the design attributed to Kate Harris. This frame is rather special, due to both its aesthetic and excellent original condition.

The frame is wholly original, with original (worn) back and original unrestored, perfect, enamel. The enamel is a rich blue purple, typical for Hutton and seemingly always used with this particular, rare, design.

The frame design is of stylized leaves. The frame is assayed for Birmingham and carries no date mark, which has almost certainly been pierced by one of the frame’s pins – see images.

Kate Harris was Hutton’s  leading designer c 1898-1904, based in their London studio, and is famous for her distinctive British art nouveau style.
