A very large and extremely good quality 19th Century Swiss Black Forest Bear stick / umbrella stand. Brienz, Switzerland circa 1890.
Standing 1.2 meters tall, carved from Linden wood in the Brienz region of Switzerland, a wonderful and rare Black Forest Bear stick / umbrella stand. Well it doesn’t get much better than this…the carving is of the finest quality, having original glass eyes, tin drip pan and the rarely seen model holding a revolving leaf carved plate.
Extremely well executed and of large proportions having a full scale standing bear, usually the bear stands on carved rocks which makes a much shorter bear in size.
The facial expression being extremely realistic with original painted tongue and teeth. Excellent condition, of fine colour and patination.
