A rare very large and complete late 19th century Konya Kilim with faded natural dyes from south-western central Anatolia.  As these Kilims are woven in two separate long panels and joined together often they are taken apart over the years, so it is great to see this one in tact.  In excellent condition and very useable on the floor with excellent underlay we provide to stop this antique flat weaves from moving around.  The large diamond shaped motifs along with hexagonal latch-hook designs are what we usually see in these Kilims from Konya, woven with gorgeous pale blues, reds, oranges and purple tone, the variety of colours is truly wonderful.

Konya kilims feature the most varied compositions found in Anatolia, and there have been a great number of kilims made there over the centuries.  Although patterns are diverse, they generally have a decoration covering the whole field of the kilim.  Konya kilims were woven in all sizes and other kilims such as Ladik and Çumra all are close to Konya.  Ladik is the best know for carpet production.  The art of weaving kilims has not died out today in Konya, for some are still being made with hand-spun wool like this antique pieces.

We offer the service of viewing any of our antique kilims, carpets, rugs or runners in situ.  Travelling all over the UK for the last 25 years we have helped customers and interior designers find the perfect carpet or rug for their home.
