For sale is this very good Kate Harris silver two handled dish or centrepiece.   The dish design features Kate Harris classic maiden and flower patterns and carries the registration number 392249. The dish is hallmarked for Connells of Cheapside, London 1900.  Connells are well known to have retailed under their mark many Kate Harris’ pieces made by William Hutton.  This dish is an excellent example of Harris’ work and in excellent original condition, with replacement glass.

Kate Harris was employed the London studio of William Hutton & Sons to produce artistic silver from 1899 to c 1905.  Her work is often hallmarked for Goldsmiths and Silversmiths or Connells of Cheapside who were retailers as well as manufacturers.  See Professor Stephen Pudney’s articles on Kate Harris in the Decorative Arts Society Journal Vol 22 “A marriage of art and commerce: Kate Harris and the arts and crafts silverware of William Hutton & Sons” and Vol 39 “Katie Harris: Mystery Woman of English Art Nouveau”.
