Antique Karabagh rugs are much sought after by collectors and designers as they have one of the oldest and most varied designs of any Caucasian rug. They represent the best in quality and design amongst early Caucasian pieces.
This attractive Karabagh long rug has a charming 'pomegranate design' symbolising prosperity and fertility and is often seen in earlier pieces. The muted caramel colour variation (abrash) adds great depth to the simple monochrome drawing, framed by several neutral borders. The tight weave gives rise to the clarity of the drawing.
In very good condition for everyday use, still retaining its fringes at both ends and all its original borders.
A sophisticated rug with a quiet formality to blend in a classic or contemporary setting.
