Each side is painted with flowers including, Chrysanthemum, Peonies, Prunus, Irises and lotus. the flowers are all emblematic representing months and various character traits.
The vases have the refinement of the painting associated with Kangxi but also the spontaneity of the Transitional period. These were probably made at the start of Kangxi when it was still I The Transitional period. The flat base being a sign of this.
They are very well potted and painted with excellent decoration and a definite pair.
