Chinese blue and white plate painted with the pattern known as the Masters of the Rocks made at Jingdezhen for Export to Europe.
This pattern shows a large landscape of towering mountains above a river with trees and a skein of geese flying over. The landscape shows three figures on a promontory and a small fishing boat with two people in the river.
Commonly it is thought that this version of the pattern depicts the landscape in winter
The sides are painted with sprays of pine which is also emblematic of winter.
The underside with a six character Cheng H'ua apocryphal mark with in a double circle
