Japanese silver hawk on a black lacquer stand decorated in gold hiramaki-e chrysanthemum flowers, foliate scrolls, aogai details (blue-green abalone) and silver cup with the kikumon chrysanthemum seal signed under the tail feathers Shoeido 松栄堂 and marked Jungin 純銀 (silver) with tomobako wood storage box, late Meiji period.

Japanese Takagari (falconry) is believed to date back to the 4th Century and was very popular with the nobles and Samurai classes to show their status and wealth.
