Japanese silver vase with a coiled dragon around its neck clutching the sacred pearl in its claws, with enamel decorations to the rim and foot, signed Bokuryu hokkyo, Oryusai, Ryoshu koku 墨流北居, 桜柳斎, 漁舟刻, engraved by Ryoshu, Oryusai studio, resident at the north of the Sumida River, Meiji Period.
In Japan the dragon is a water deity symbolic of power, wealth and prosperity, and is one of the twelve Zodiac signs.
