The artist Sekiguchi Shinya 関口真也 (1877-1932) was born in Shiba-ku-Tokyo, the son of the famous metalworker Sekiguchi Ichiya. He first exhibited at the fourth Naikoku Kangyo Hakurankai (National Industrial Promotion Exposition) in 1895. His works are also recorded in the catalogues of the 1900 Paris Exhibition, and the fifth Naikoku Kangyo Hakurankai (1903).
