Japanese cloisonné enamel vase worked in silver and gilt wire decorated with panels of ho-o mythical birds, stylised dragons and chrysanthemums, Meiji Period.
The mythical phoenix is symbolic of peace, justice and fidelity and was adopted as a symbol of the Imperial family.
The apperance of a Ho-o is a very good omen.
