James Leslie Brooke (1903-1973) was a fine artist in a variety of media. Born and lived in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, he studied at the College of Art there with John Gauld. Also studied in Florence, Rome, Naples, France and North America. Exhibited at RA, RBA, Paris Salon and in Yorkshire including Bradford Spring Exhibitions. His work was published in The Architectural Review, Yorkshire Life and the Journal of Decorative Art etc.
"Passing Shower, Castle Hill" Huddersfield, is an oil painting on board measuring 20 x 24 inches. It is signed lower right and is framed giving an overall size of 27 x 31 inches. On the back is a nice old label with title and artist's address.
