An unusual tortoiseshell box with an inset medallion to the lid of Isaac Walton dated 1824.The medallion by Avent was produced for the most famous edition of the Compleat Angler published by Thomas Gosden in 1824.The medallion is fixed to the outside of the lid in glass surmounted by a decorative silver rim.The medallion is either silver gilt or gold (we cannot be sure as it is fixed in place)The condition of the box is very good.
