Circular Renaissance pottery dish with elaborate blue scrolling decoration, the center panel with a ducal armorial in polychrome colours of a Cardinal. The reverse of the piece bears the initials of the master maiolica potter Virgiliotto Calamelli his famous workshop located in Faenza Italy.Calamelli's workshop was renown for producing a high quality resilient reflective white glaze " bianca di Faenza".
