An Italian Pietra Dura Top Occasional Table.
Constructed in carved gilt wood, having a pietra dura inlaid circular platform; rising from a tripartite base, the legs terminating in scrolls, supporting the baluster form carved column, the gilt wood border with shaped apron of inverted anthemia, housing a superb top of black slate inlaid with a scene of birds perched on branches surrounded by butterflies, utilising precious hardstones including malachite and lapis lazuli.
