A very attractive Italian 19th century Giltwood Mirror, having heavily carved pierced frame in the Florentine taste enclosing replacement mirror plate.

This delightful mirror would brighten up any room. The carving is superbly executed and remains in excellent condition with just a few small repairs and losses which is most unusual for a frame of this design and this period.

The mirror plate itself is relatively recent, early 20th century, and there is a strong possibility that the carved frame itself started its life designed to hold a painting, only to be relatively quickly converted into the attractive wall mirror which we see today.

It’s also worth noting that the mirror is designed in such a way that it will happily hang portrait or landscape, which of course significantly enhances the available functionality of this piece.
