In beautiful condition this tree of life antique Isfahan rug is full of interest, with animals in the border design and the main field design woven around the tree designs.  Woven in the master workshops of Isfahan, Persia in the first 1/4 of the 20th Century. This is a very fine rug, beautifully drawn and woven with fantastic dyes, a truly stunning rug in excellent original condition.  The pile height is very good on this soft wool antique rug, with no low areas of pile the end fringes are in excellent condition too.  Professionally washed by ourselves this 100 year old classical rug is ready for the floor, and with good underlay we supply it is a wonderful decorative item for the floor or to be hung on the wall.

Historically, Isfahan was a weaving and cultural center of great importance with its culmination as the capital of Shah Abbas, the great patron of the arts in the 16th century, “The Golden Age of Persian Weaving”. Except for the period of the Afghan domination of the early 1700’s, Isfahan has long produced antique carpets of great technical skill and sophisticated aesthetics.
