Indian Brass Peacock.
19th Century.
A brass container from an oil lamp in the form of a slender necked peacock with a small head and long beak. The wings and raised openwork tail are incised with feathers. Protruding from underneath the bird is a central hollow shaft and from his breast a long oil outlet.
It is of traditional form and similar to a peacock incense burner in the Fowler Museum, Los Angeles.
