Show stopping Palazzo Roman Faux Porphyry Pedestal - Cabinet of Grand Proportions .
Interesting and Imposing Eighteenth Century Italian " Sculpture Pedestal Cabinet " of rare form - simulating the Egyptian Porphyry ,which at that period when Porphyry mines were lost to the world .
Highlighted by dramatic gold leaf geometric designs very much in the strong Roman manner . Note :- details of equisitely carved imaginary snake and lion masks - and easily reconisible Roman features to the angles , including the wonderful centered rosette to the front opening door .
This is certainly great furniture - patiently awaiting a statuesque marble torso - absolutely not domestic
