An Important Carlo and Arthur Giuliano enamel, diamond and sapphire necklace signed C & AG, the necklace comprising pierced feathered scrollwork sections finely enamelled with black and white, linked alternately with similarly enamelled circular discs, each with a central silver collet set old brilliant cut diamond, the front section of the necklace comprising two larger pierced scrollwork panels measuring approximately 3.5cms x 1.5cms, each with two gold bar link drops terminating with a 4.5mm pearl, all suspending a lozenge shaped openwork pendant with black and white enamelled scrollwork decoration, embellished with old cut diamond scrolls with a fancy cluster to each of the cardinal points and set with five faceted blue sapphires mounted in yellow gold cut-down collets, an articulated 6.7mm bouton pearl drop section with matching enamelled cap suspended from the base, original C & A Giuliano red leather case with hand tooled gilt floral motifs repeated in panels, fitted velvet interior with silk stamped C & A Giuliano, 115 Piccadilly, London, circa 1900, measuring approximately 37×7.2cm, gross weight 50.0 grams.

This magnificent necklace was made by Carlo and Arthur Giuliano in around 1900. Carlo Giuliano (1831-1895) was a designer renowned for his revivalist pieces. When he died in 1895, his two sons Carlo and Arthur took over his London based business. This remarkable piece features stunningly detailed enamel work throughout and delicate scrolling motifs. The black and white enamel contrasts beautifully with the yellow gold settings, and goes wonderfully with the lustrous pearl details, bright hued sapphires, and lively diamonds. This is a spectacular piece: a true work of art, created by master craftsmen of the period.
