British, (fl. 1841-1876)
Oil on canvas
Walter Heath Williams was a landscape painter who during his life lived in Bath, Topsham and Torquay. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1845-67, the British Institute and Suffolk Street. He painted landscapes, river and coastal scenes mainly in the West Country, especially Devon and Cornwall. Williams was a master of capturing peaceful little spots of nature with their hidden homesteads and winding paths, represented beautifully in this fine example.
The painting is housed in a new, English made gilt frames, which is in excellent condition.
