A Good Console Table in the Louis XVI Manner.
Gilt wood, with decorated highlights; of arc-en-arbalette form, the white Carrara platform having a thumbnail moulded edge, being supported by a framework of two draped putti, one carrying a posy of roses, and his partner bearing ears of wheat, standing on scrollwork bases rising from columnar feet; the backboard housing an original mirror, within a vertical guilloche dressed gilt wood frame; the central Attic urn issues bellflower garlands, the concave stretcher, conjoining the putti; over these, the apron is adorned with a central guilloche band, enclosed within a running stiff leaf pattern over, and running pearl design below.
