Gold Massey II Lever by Tobias.

Diameter: 45 mm.

An early 19th Century English Massey type two lever with fine decorative gold dial in a gold open face case.  Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement with dust cover.  Harrison’s maintaining power. Chased and engraved cock inscribed “Patent – Detach’d”, diamond endstone, blue steel Bosley regulator.  Plain three arm polished steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Massey type two  lever escapement.  Fine and attractive gold dial, applied gold  Roman numerals on a matted ground.  Applied three colour gold decoration to the centre and border of the dial, blue steel hands.  Engine turned 18 carat open face case, the movement hinged at 9 o’clock.  Engine turned bezels, deeply chased and engraved middle, pendant and bow.  Maker’s mark “TH & Co” and number corresponding to that on the movement.

In excellent overall condition apart from the tip of the minute hand lacking.  Casemaker Thomas Helsby.
