A particularly nice gold opal pendant by the well regarded arts and crafts jewellers Barnet Henry Joseph. It is clearly influenced by the Pforzheim jewellery of Theodor Fahrner and others. The green stones are most likely amazonite or chrysoprase. The pendant is marked for BHJ and 9 carat gold.
The back of the pendant is faintly engraved “IMS 20/6/05”, allowing this to be dated to 1905.
Barnet Henry Joseph was a longstanding jewellery company from the Victorian period that started making a range of affordable gold art nouveau style jewellery from c 1900-1920.
