German Porcelain Large Botanical Bowl or Basin,
Ludwigsburg,
Circa 1780.
The large porcelain circular bowl or basin has a wide flaring rim. The rim is moulded with alternating rectangular panels with an undecorated moulded ribbon border above and below. Within the smaller panels are polychrome painted flower sprays and within the large panels are raised moulded designs in white of stylized leaves and urns.
The central well has a very large painted polychrome floral bouquet well painted with various flowers including a rose and tulip. To the exterior are two large different bouquets and between them on the sides are scattered single flowers while scattered across the exterior are tiny floating green leaves covering small firing imperfections.
Mark: Underglaze blue crown and letter F and impressed IP above a 4.
