A superb quality and extremely rare 18th century Georgian mahogany Chippendale period Pedestal Partners Desk.

Having superbly figured one piece solid mahogany top over 18 drawers front and back, retaining original brass swan neck handles raised on original plinth base.

Firstly it is relatively rare to find partners desks from the 18th century still in good condition as obviously they are the type of furniture that is used, and abused over the years meaning its rare that they survive.

By far the majority available on the market today are from the mid to late 19th century. It is even rarer to find one with its original solid wooden top.

There were very few made without leathers in the first place and then a large percentage of those that were have managed to acquire a leather inset top over their history.

This one however has never been adapted and proudly retains its original solid top which is well figured and of good colour.

There are signs of wear as you would expect, but it has been lovingly restored and cleaned overall is in excellent condition ready for immediate use.

The proud owner should not feel scared to use it for it's original purpose, and should remember that all antique furniture was initially made to be used and that this desk is no different.

A nice leather writing pad should be more than sufficient to protect its surface for somebody that
wishes to use it.

Alternatively it has an unusual elegance for a relatively plain and square piece of furniture and we believe that the elegance and charm is in the simplicity of its design.

It would also make a lovely decorative central standing item in any room around the house to perhaps display some photo frames or similar and a nice vase of flowers.
