Georgian mahogany tray.
Very fine antique Georgian mahogany galleried oval tray. The balustrade gallery to the edge consists of thirty two turned columns which support the top laminated rail. The ends are both pierced as carrying handles with raised crestings above. The tray base is a single well figured board.
Such tray designs appear in the design books of Chippendale, Ince & Mayhew, Hepplewhite and Sheraton.
