A very good quality 18th century Georgian Mahogany Kettle Stand, or Wine Table, retaining exceptional colour and patina throughout.

Having very well figured wavy gallery top raised on elegant carved and turned central column, terminating on tripod legs.

The ever popular name of Georgian Kettle Stand is applied basically to any low tripod type table of similar form to this.

They were of course often originally made to house the kettle in the centre of the room when taking tea, although not all of them could possibly have had this purpose originally.

Many of them were just made as simple occasional, or wine tables and they prove extremely useful and functional in terms of their proportions for use as what we regard a coffee table in modern times.

This particular example is excellent quality, with very well carved decoration and retains a wonderful rich colour, so has clearly been well loved throughout its life.

That said, it should be noted that as can be seen in the various images there has been some historic movement to the top over the years and it is therefore not perfectly flat.

It is however very much still a functional piece and very much fit for its original purpose.
