Georgian 18th Century Fruitwood Dresser Base.

A Delightful Mid 18th Century, George II Period, Cherry Wood Dresser Base Of Lovely Untouched Colour And Patina, Having Well Figured Rectangular Top, Over Three Drawers With Crossbanded Decoration And Original Brass Handles, To Elegant Shaped Frieze Raised On Square Legs To Back And Attractive Turned Tapering Legs Terminating On Pad Feet To Front.

An extremely attractive and beautiful dresser base, which is nearly 300 years old, yet just as fit for pupose as the day which it was made. It is also potentially even more attractive than when it was first constructed, boasting incredible warm colour and patina to the cherry wood timber which it is constructed from. This is a look which has taken hundreds of years to appear and simply cannot be replicated, or reproduced. This is a real personal favourite of mine, so functional, yet so beautiful all rolled into one package.

The excellent colour and patina suggests that it has been well used, but also well loved and looked after during the 200 years plus of its existence. Aside from the relatively standard and expected old marks, scuffs, scrapes, scratches, and dents there is absolutely no restoration to speak ok and it is generally regarded as extremely rare to find a dresser base of this period retaining its original brass handles and lock escutcheons as this one does.

Perfect for a variety of places around home this dresser base would look beautiful along a wall in a narrow hallway, on the back of a large settee, in a kitchen/dining room, or even in a living room due to its relatively restrained form.

We are sure that there are a whole host of other settings that it would also work beautifully in.

As with all of the items which we offer for sale this fruitwood dresser base has passed through our workshops, where our highly trained antique furniture restorers have given it the once over in terms of a clean and natural wax polish, before being presented for sale. That of course leaves it ready to be placed straight into the home, or even office, for immediate use.
