Georgian 18th Century Dressing Table Mirror.

A Very Good Quality, 18th Century, George II Period Mahogany Dressing Table Mirror, Having Old Rectangular Plate Set Within Gilded Slip To Elegant Moulded Frame, Over Well Figured Base With Three Frieze Drawers, Raised On Elegant Replacement Shaped Bracket Feet.

Dressing table mirrors, which can often be referred to as “toilet mirrors” were made from the beginning of the 18th Century onwards.

Designed to sit atop a dressing table, or chest of drawers, in the bedroom or dressing room they are found in a huge variety of sizes, woods, shapes, sizes and qualities.

This is a particularly nice quality one, constructed from rich, dense, well figured mahogany timber, which still retains a lovely warm colour and patina to this day.

Although originally designed to sit on top of a dressing table it is of course most versatile and would suit a whole variety of locations around the home.

As is pretty much standard on these items the mirror plate is probably replaced, but is certainly very old and has been in place for a significant amount of time. It could possibly even be original, but we cannot guarantee that. Overall the item is in very good condition with the replacement bracket feet being very much in the style of the original feet.

As with all the items which we offer for sale it has been naturally wax polished, in our workshops, by our highly skilled furniture restorers, before being offered for sale, ensuring that it is ready for immediate use.

Circa 1740.

Height 28in.
Width 19.75in.
Depth 9in.
