George IV Macassar Ebony Reading Table.

An early 19th century George IV Regency period adjustable Macassar ebony reading table.

The rectangular veneered top is made with two adjustable reading flaps with a ratchet mechanism to the reverse.

The Macassar ebony is laid on a mahogany carcass and the reading table is telescopic so it will rise and fall and can be adjusted to a suitable height by using the brass knob on the ring turned and carved pedestal column.

The column is simulated and stands on a Macassar ebony veneered triform plinth base.  The plinth is raised on simulated turned bun feet and concealed brass castors.
