George III stick barometer.

A George III mahogany and sabicu stick barometer, the triangular open pediment with the original brass finial, above a glazed door enclosing an engraved panel with barometer and thermometer scales, signed Campione OXFORD, above a diagonally veneered shaft and domed reservoir.

Provenance: February 1994 - with Ronald Phillips Ltd.

Campione of Oxford is recorded as working from 1760 - 1820 ( see Barometer Makers and Retailers 1660-1900, Edwin Banfield, 1985).
