Extremely useful and attractive George III sterling silver Old English pattern sifter spoon. Made by Robert Rutland in London 1810. 

The top of the front of the handle is engraved with a contemporary family crest and a Scottish motto or Battle Cry "FIX'D" above. 

The full set of hallmarks are stamped at the top of the rear of the handle and are very clear. 

The pierced bowl is circular and of pleasing design. This is a very convenient way of shaking sugar on to berries or other puddings.
