A very fine George III Silver Neo Classical Wine Goblet made in London in 1781 by John Robins.

The Wine Goblet stands on a circular pedestal foot decorated with beading at the base and where it meets the main body.  The Classical vase shaped body is beautifully decorated with blue bell garlands, tied with ribbons.

The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest surrounded by an oval bright cut cartouche.  The Crest is that of Ferrall, as used by the branch at Augher Castle, Co. Tyrone.

The Goblet is in excellent condition, with crisp marks and has a finely gilded interior.  It is of a very good weight and displays original hammer marks up inside the foot, from when it was originally made.

John Robins was a fine maker who made many pieces for the famous art collector, William Beckford of Fonthill Abbey in Wilshire.

Height: 6.6 inches.

Diameter of the foot: 3.45 inches.

Weight: 10 oz.
