An extremely rare George III Silver Armorial Wine Label made in Newcastle circa 1805 by Ann Robertson.

This very rare Armorial wine label is modelled in the stylised crescent form. Most unusually, however, is that the top displays a contemporary cast Swan Crest. In heraldic terms a swan proper resting the dexter foot on an ogress. This is the Crest of the Clark family of Bishop Wearmouth, Durham and with another branch in Durham and Ireland.

The face is engraved with the title MADEIRA, with good niello filled lettering. The label is in excellent condition and is well marked on the reverse with the maker's mark, duty mark and sterling mark. As you will appreciate, Armorial labels from London are scarce, however to find one from Newcastle, and by a Lady maker, is very unusual.

Length: 1.65 inches, 4.13 cm.
Width: 1.25 inches, 3.13 cm.
