A very fine George III Silver Armorial Salver, of large size. Made in London in 1812 by William Bennett.
The Salver is of a large size and stands on four panel feet with gadrooned borders and scroll ends. This piece has a stepped rim which is also decorated with gadrooning. The centre is beautifully engraved with a contemporary Armorial, with Crest above, flanked by detailed supporters, with the motto "Pro Rege Pro Patri " engraved on a banner below.
The Arms are those of the Carlisle family of County Cumberland and have been executed to the finest standard. The weight and quality of this piece is exceptional. William Bennett was a specialist maker of trays, salvers and the components of the silver dinner service. The Salver is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the reverse.
