Decoratively engraved pair of GEORGE III Sterling Silver Oval Waiters on four panel feet.
Maker:  Timothy Renou.  London 1800.

The outer border of the rim is engraved with three reeded bands which are echoed on each of the feet. The engraving on the outer edge is quite wide and consist mainly of two bands of different patterns. These are also echoed around the circumference of the oval surround to the coat of arms and crest.
It would seem that a previous owner has had the central engraving enhanced on this pair of salvers.
The full set of hallmarks is clearly stamped on the reverse but the makers mark is somewhat rubbed.
It appears that Timothy Renou was part of a large family of goldsmiths and according to Grimwade his mark is usually found on dinner plates, dishes and to lesser extent salvers which are all of good quality and refinement of design.

Size: 10 x 7.5 inches (25 x 19cm)
Weight: 30 troy ounces (933 grams) the pair.
