Impressive and elegant pair of GEORGE III crested sterling silver circular salvers on three feet.
Maker: Andrew Fogelberg. London 1779.

Both salvers are engraved with a contemporary family crest of an eagle displayed out of a ducal coronet. This crest was used by a number of families including WHITE: possibly for Taylor White of Tuxford who was the father of  Sir Thomas Woollaston White, 1st Baronet of Tuxford & Wallingwells  (born 20 January 1767 - died 28 October 1817) was the eldest son and heir of Taylor and Sarah White. Prior to inheriting his father’s substantial estate and fortune, he occupied himself primarily with the army and militia.
The salvers are elegantly simple with two bands of beading, one at the base of the raised rim and the other at the top of the rim and the beading is repeated on the legs.
The full set of hallmarks are very clearly struck on the reverse of each salver, there is also a mark on the reverse where some of the silver was swiped off for assay purposes.
It is not often that a pair of salvers is found and this size is the one favoured by butlers.

Diameter: 7.9 inches (21cm)
Weight: 24 troy ounces (746 grams) the pair.
