A rare early George III period Old Sheffield Plate tea caddy made circa 1775 -1780.

The caddy which is of oval shape has flat chased decoration in Adam Style with swags and bows and has a bead edge rim.

The lid is applied with a small swing handle. The caddy is fitted with a lock(no key) as tea at the time was very precious and expensive)

The caddy is in excellent condition. A tea caddy of a similar nature is shown in Frosts 1971 book (Antique Collectors Club). See pictures.
