Elegant 18th Century George II Sterling Silver Onslow Pattern Soup Ladle.
Maker: Alexander Johnston. London 1752.
The ladle has a round bowl and the Onslow pattern on the finial is well proportioned. A contemporary family crest is engraved on the reverse of the stem and the full, legible set of hallmarks is also stamped on the reverse near the bowl.
This attractive ladle is of very good weight and is well balanced. It would be highly useful, not just for serving soup but for a variety of other dishes as well.
