Historically important and beautifully made GEORGE II ceremonial Staff of Office for KNGHT MARSHALL OF THE ROYAL HOUSEHOLD.
Maker's mark only: R.G possibly for Richard Glanville.
Circa 1750.

The wooden staff has silver gilt mounts centrally and at both ends. All three mounts are stamped with the maker's initials.
One end is engraved with the Royal Arms of George II the other with the arms of Medows or Meadows. However, these arms are almost certainly for SIR PHILIP MEDOWS (1672-1757). KNGHT MARSHALL OF THE ROYAL HOUSEHOLD.
His son Sir Francis Medows succeeded him.

This staff would make an excellent addition to any collection.

Dimensions

Length: 30.2 inches (77cm)
