A superb George II carved giltwood pier mirror, with fine detailing throughout. The crest having a cartouche centred with a pattarae among foliate scrolls and flanked by a broken arch pediment above the bevelled vertical rectangular mirror plate, the conforming frame carved to show foliate scrolls in relief, flowing down to a floral scroll at the bottom. The sides flanked by hanging floral garlands. The mirror has a bottom scrolling crest, with further relief foliate carving, and a central semi formed shell.
A lovely mirror, of a very neat and convenient size. Fabulous detailing and quality throughout.
