George II Bow Front Hanging Corner Cupboard.
A rare and decorative George II mid-18th century Bow Front Hanging Corner Cupboard with a shaped shelf above. In original condition.
It has raised chinoiserie decoration with, most unusually, a pair of beautifully drawn deer in an oriental landscape with a flowering tree and a small house and a pair of birds against a black background.
The old lacquer is now fading and has softened the background colour, adding greenish tints. It has its original shelves, green in colour, and the top one is concave to allow for a bottle. It has four original butterfly hinges, an escutcheon and working key and lock.
Measurements:
Height including shelf: 46.5 inches / 114 centimetres.
Height without shelf 34.75 inches/ 88 centimetres.
Depth of sides 14.5 inches / 37 centimetres.
Depth from back corner to middle of bow 15.5 inches / 39.5 centimetres.
