George I Overmantel Mirror.
An 18th-century George I walnut and gesso overmantel mirror.
The crisply carved giltwood decoration to the top is surmounted on a shaped walnut veneered frame, with an egg and dart gesso border.
The later replaced brass candle sconces flank the original mercury triple bevelled Vauxhall plate, which is made in three sections and is fitted within an inner gilt gesso slip.
