Fabulous rare French Pigeon snuff box in fruitwood. Carved entirely from fruitwood and unusually carved with feathers. Superb original hinge which is undamaged and closes well. Bone eyes. The feet and legs are carved into the underside.
Unusually the the lid is on the side when the bird is standing on it’s feet. At 14cm’s this is more likely a table snuff. Dating from around the early C19th it is very tactile and taken on a wonderful patina.
